Our Story

I first learned to crochet when I was little, by watching my grandma. I was fascinated by it and picked it up excitedly. In 2018, I learned about Amigurumi, the art of crocheting or knitting to create stuffed yarn creatures.

The first Cuddlie was born as a gift for my friend. I bought my first crochet book and decided to make a teddy bear, due to it’s simple and cute pattern - plus, my friend really loved teddy bears. Soon, friends of friends noticed his Cuddlie and asked for their very own. More and more Cuddlies were being requested to be made, and we loved seeing the joy on people’s faces when they got their little Cuddlie! So, Cuddlies by TAPA was born, where all your little Cuddlie friends come to life. As Cuddlies by TAPA has become more and more popular, I started to reach out and connect with makers and crocheter all over Australia and we together create amazing cuddly friends for you. 

During COVID lockdown in 2020, I started a new interest in sewing toys. I enjoyed designing, drawing and creating different characters. That is when a small collection of sewing Cuddlies was born and I am still on my journey of creating and making more designs offer the most unique and quality gift for your love ones and yourself. 

Each Cuddlie is carefully hand-crafted, made from high quality materials, premium fibre fill and embroidered eyes or safety eyes where they are used. They can mostly be machine washed (there is care instruction in each product's description) and unlike other toys, your Cuddlie can last you a lifetime. Each Cuddlie is unique and is looking for a forever home. We wanted to make something that would grow with you and become a fond memory over time. Every Cuddlie is made to last a long time and we hope that you cherish them as much as we do.
